Spatial layout
Model Y comes in two types: 5-seat and 7-seat (American version). Since there is no traditional engine and its related components, the front part of the Model Y has a huge storage space. In terms of storage, it is equipped with a front trunk and a trunk. The rear seats can be folded and laid flat separately, and the maximum storage space can reach 2,158 liters. Among them, the regular volume of the front trunk is 117 liters, and the regular volume of the trunk is 971 liters. The hatchback door extends directly to the bottom of the trunk, with a large opening and closing diameter, making it easier and faster to take out and put in items. In terms of in-car storage, the center console is equipped with a cup holder, two storage boxes and a wireless mobile phone charger.
Powertrain
The Model Y is a pure electric vehicle, driven by an electric motor, and has two power configurations: rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The power configurations of different versions of the 2023 Model Y produced by manufacturers in different regions vary slightly.
Chassis
The Model Y adopts a double wishbone independent suspension and a multi-link independent suspension, combined with a sporty vehicle chassis tuning. All Model Y models produced after January 1, 2023, are equipped with updated suspensions. The specific adjustment items include reducing the stiffness of the suspension springs, reducing the stiffness of the top support of the shock absorbers, and optimizing the compression damping of the shock absorbers. In addition, the Model Y has two driving modes: rear-mounted rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive.

The body structure is made of a hybrid metal material of steel and aluminum, featuring an H-shaped anti-collision structure. It is enhanced with multiple advanced connection techniques such as the one-piece die-casting technology of Model Y Gigafactory, laser welding, resistance welding, riveting, and gluing, which can effectively reduce the risk of vehicle deformation in collision accidents.
